Couldn't spot 'Murray'

Went to the 'NZ Permanent Mission to the UN' offices today to sign some papers.

Turns out the guy who witnessed my signature used to live in Punjab Street, Khandallah.

Just a stone's throw from where I grew up.

Doesn't help the perception that everyone in Kiwiland knows everybody else.

Went to a wicked show last night

Weren't allowed cameras, but snapped this shot on the sly.

Clearly shows absolutely nothing.

Head to this site for a better looksie: http://fuerzabrutanyc.com/

Pee

It's hot (33 degrees Celsius - with no breeze)

And this is me trying to find the shade. Not smiling. Too sweaty.

Almost, almost, almost could break my no-sugar diet for an iced treat at Pinkberry.

Pee

Ice Ice Baby

The New York Rangers (ice hockey) take on the Washington Capitals in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals this afternoon.

Madison Square Garden (and most of Midtown) will be humming with 'Blueshirts' fans.

Pee

My Yankees stumble again

Fenway Park in Boston was home to their latest disaster against the Red Sox.

At least the Hurricanes are sitting atop their table back home.

Go the Canes!

Pee

Sitcom actor sighting

Saw comedian Richard Kind (who played alongside Michael J. Fox in the mighty 'Spin City') on the corner of Amsterdam and 72nd.

He was carrying his daughter's scooter.

Pee

Saturday, Saturday, Saturday . . .

For those who can't access my Twitpics, below are a few grabs from my wanderings yesterday.

Visited John Lennon's memorial in Central Park: Strawberry Fields. It's across from the Dakota building where he was fatally shot some 29 years ago (West 72nd Street).

Took in some Little League action while strolling through the Park.

And after wandering through Hell's Kitchen on the West Side, visited Carnegie Hall and 30 Rockefeller Plaza ('30 Rock' the TV show is set there).

A beautiful 85 degrees Fahrenheit day (29 Celsius).

Toys "R" Not Us

Saw an hilarious old postal truck parked in Midtown last night.

It was stripped of all external graphics and had a dashboard full of weirdly posed retro toys.

Not sure if this was Jon from 'CHiPs' atop a pony?

Would love to meet the owner.

Fascinating.

But so is everything in this big city.

Pee

Another stunning building

The old MetLife Tower at One Madison Avenue.

It was the world's tallest building between 1909 - 1913.

Comes oh so close to nudging the Chrysler building off my 'top Manhattan architecture' list.

Pee

Is it a bird? Is it a plain . . .

There's a dull old car parking building next to my apartment.

But they've given it some life over the years by papering the walls with classic old posters.

I'm keen on stealing the Superman one.

Problem is that every time I try to get close to it the guy in the ticket booth gets very suspicious.

The color drains away

This poor little color copy shop lives on our street.

Surrounded by gray.

And a little out of its time.

Imagine it'll soon be taken over by a Starbucks outlet or a Dunkin' Donuts joint.

Working hard

Am back in my apartment on East 44th Street laying down some serious strategy.

Or maybe just laying down.

Li-Lo style.

Pee

A piccie for my daughters

Yep, it's Ashley Tisdale getting made up.

Note the new 'darker' hair.

Pee (Dad)

Helen Graney just popped into my head

Was just listening to my new online peer-to-peer DJ channel when this song started (as highlighted above).

Will forever think of HG when this tune plays.

She knows why. Ask her.

Pee

The funky Scion space I mentioned earlier

Pee

More than meets the eye

Oh yeah, and this was pretty sweet, too.

But sadly no Megan Fox alongside.

Pee

Mixmaster Matt

The 'Jones Boy' and I hit the New York Auto Show for a looksie this afternoon.

Lotsa cars. Lotsa people. Lotsa spruikers. But not much innovation.

We did have a good 'play' at the Ford stand. Some very nice touches.

But must say that of all the stuff on show, the Scion space was the standout for me. Simple 'n' funky set-up. Cool custom makeovers. Just fun. Good old-fashioned fun.

Walt would wince

The above pic's the result of five-hours' worth of shopping: one $25 second-hand Disneyland tee (ex 80s).

Had to laugh at the bag 'Search & Destroy' put the purchase in.

Could there be a greater contrast?

Pee

The perils of Twitter stalking

Was using the 'Find People' function to 'look up' a few of my favorite creative smarty-types this morning.

One such chap is Alex Bogusky of CP+B in Boulder, Colorado (think Mini, Burger King, VW, Subservient Chicken, and Infect Truth amongst other gems).

Didn't mean to creep him out.

But with a Twitter persona that reads 'PeeBoy' I guess it's to be expected.

Oops.

Pee

Stopped for a drink of water . . .

While roaming lower Manhattan earlier today and noticed I was right outside 400 Lafayette Street.

So?

It's the home of some quite clever brand folk - 'Droga5'.

Pee

Naughty euphemism ahead

Was talking to my Jo as she lay in bed (her Sunday morning).

Saw this artwork across the road and had a wee giggle.

Pee

Not sure about Pepsi's new identity

Call me old-fashioned, but the new circle-thing is a bit lazy.

Pee (no longer part of the 'Pepsi Generation').

Flatiron, man

One of the most unusual buildings in Manhattan.

I'm assuming they haven't got any overweight executives working there.

Pee

Check this fire escape action

Another iconic NYC image.

This time from Gramercy Park.

Would hate to have to scramble down these in a blaze.

Pee

Um, is this advertising?

I work in brand marketing.

So I'm always over-thinking everything I see.

For example, did someone just paint these fire hydrants 'cos they needed to be painted?

Or is it ambient work for Benjamin Moore?

Belated Easter goodness

Forgot to post these cute wee books last weekend.

Twas a sweet display, indeed.

Sun's out. Yes!

Makes a fresh juice that much more enjoyable.

Pee

Banana-rama

Grabbed the bunch at far right on the way to work this morning.

Four bent yellow lads for $1.

A great economic and energy-filled treat to keep the brain bouncing all day long.

St Elmo's Freezer

Lots of cute fridge fun for kids.

Lord knows how nutritious the ticklemeister is?

Pee

Very eerily cool

Snapped this picture from high up in the McCann-Erickson building.

Kinda like a classic sci-fi movie poster.

Outside Dave's place

Just thinking of all the thousands of stars that have been inside.

Pee

Early Sunday evening in Times Square

Quite a fantastic place when the neon lights and LED screens kick in.

Just a mad crush of people everywhere.

Oddly soothing and exhilarating all at once.

One of my favorite sidewalk signs

It's for a little diner on 45th Street (between 2nd and 3rd avenues).

A wee piece of 50s nostalgia.

Pee

The Amish Market in full swing

Ordered a lovely grilled chicken and caramelized onion pizza last night.

It was prepared super fresh with wholesome ingredients and baked in a brick oven. Very cool.

Most delicious thing I've chomped in quite some time.

Pee

A yummy next-door cafe

What better thing to do than sit in a cafe on a rainy New York Saturday.

Listening to the 'Noo Yoikers' squabble over baseball results and parking meters.

Love this place!

Pee

PS - Note the name on the marquee, Dad.

It's raining today

And the spring daffodils on Park Ave are saying 'thanks' for the drink.

Pee

It still makes me go 'aaah'

Reckon it's my favourite building in the city.

Yes, there are bigger ones. Newer ones. More famous ones.

But there's something about the Chrysler building I just love.

In memory of Lily

Our much-loved cat who passed away on Friday.

She was a quirky, sweet thing who brought much joy to our house.

And kept me company all day when working from home.

She will be missed.

Also sending love to her brother, Bang.

Rugby - almost

Watched Utah play BYU on cable last night.

Was kinda weird to see rugby being played on telly.

A few token Australasian ex-pat 'big boys' delivering some much-needed staunch.

Other than that?

Let's just say that none of the lads were knocking on the door of Super 14 selection.
