Hey, Miss D-JAY put a record on

Our very own D-Jay Wong asked me what kick-arse (not sad) songs I'll be listening to to keep my spirits up.

Hmmmm. Good call.

I'll have to think about it.

If anyone else is reading this blog, feel free to place your own suggestions in the comments box. Lemme know what songs fire you up, make you run faster, ensure you leap about the bedroom or sing at the top of your lungs.

I'll then make a mixtape of everyone's suggestions and have it with me at all times.

If I was to pick five off the top of my head I'd say:

The Anthem - Good Charlotte
Born To Run - Bruce Springsteen
Unskinny Bop - Poison
Just Another Night - Mick Jagger
Real Wild Child - Iggy Pop

Now that all (any) of my cred has gone with the Brothers in Arms suggestion, I am not holding back on this one: Borderline (Madge), Don't Give Up (Peter Gabriel/Kate Bush - kinda maybe nicked this one from J9 but I do love it too), many, many Stevie Wonder tracks...Higher Ground, Living for the City, That's what friends are for, Oasis' Wonderwall and Walking on the Moon (Police). How d'ya like them apples?

It's all about Queen - ANY SONG - but my vote is Radio Ga Ga...power!

I guess it's horses for courses, but when Billy Joel belts out "You May Be Right" I just want to go nuts! The underlying arrogance in Robbie Williams' "Monsoon" always gets me going as well. You can't go wrong with "Goodybe Astrid" by Chisel - it's sure to get the blood pumping. If I hear all 3 songs in a row I'm liable to blow a fuse, I get THAT excited!

If we're talking Simply the Best, then you kinda have to include 'Eye of the Tiger' EEEWWWW!!!

Seriously though, gotta do "Can you Feel it" by the Jacksons (revisit the original before we get bombarded by the Australian Idol version) and "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield

- and it's DJ Jay-Rich who posed the question Pee, not Jay Wong :-) Pee :-)

from day one, loved shooting the shit about music with you. so here is my top 5, in absolutely no order, from the depths of the australian mainland.
(Disclaimer: i've gone with more modern tunes, but i'm just as stuck in the 70's/80's/90's as the rest of the crew at JM Syd)

Hard Sun: Eddie Vedder (Into the Wild)

Jackie Big Tits: The Kooks (gold title)

Staring at the Sun: TV on the Radio

Float On: Modest Mouse (cliched, but awesome for that reason)

Reckoner: Radiohead (In Rainbows)

and pete davies would suggest "Dance Wiv Me" by Dizzie Rascal, and i'd agree.

Can a post be longer than a blog? is this poor form. i think yes, it is. but shove it.

Break conventions!
